I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.A federal jury awarded $17 million in damages on Wednesday to the family of a mentally disabled man who was fatally shot by an off-duty Los Angeles police officer inside a Costco in Corona. Sorry if it is a bit too long but I have no one to talk to and it's quite a long story. I'm crying while typing this out because I don't know what else I can do. I am literally stuck in the middle between my girlfriend (GF) and my mom. Basically I used to be very close to mom till I was about 26 years old. I am her only daughter and I had no friends. I only left the house for work and stayed inside with mom even on weekends. She broke up with me after 1 year 4 months. After 3 months being single I met my current GF and we've been together for 1 year 8 months. With my first GF I used to have a lot of spare time at home. We used to meet only during the weekend and we only went out with her group of friends. ![]() She was very cold and distant and after some time it seemed that we had more of a 'friendship' rather than a relationship going on. She was not afraid to let me know that she liked me and we started meeting every day if possible. Soon I ended up sleeping at her house and gradually I basically started living there. Her parents and siblings do not complain. This is only temporary as we have bought an apartment together and we are waiting to sign the final documents and get the keys from the previous owners. I still visit my mother once to twice per week for a couple of hours after work. Since my GF works every Saturday I spend the day with mom as well. The problem is that my GF and mom were ok with each other during the beginning of our relationship. After some time my GF noticed the way mom treats me at times. She thinks my mom is annoying, suffocating and a double-faced liar. My GF is very outspoken and too honest unfortunately. She noticed that mom sometimes makes fun of my weight in front of my GF. I am no super-model but I am not fat either. In her opinion mom doesn't know her boundaries. This is true as mom complains about dad to me all the time. Once mom phoned my GF late in the evening to speak to me. I was at my GF's house at the moment but I could not reply to the phone as it was still charging. ![]()
